Social Enterprises are still lacking behind conventional enterprises in their international scaling efforts. This poses the question why are most social enterprises not scaling to other country and for those who still do – what are their models and what are their challenges? This session will first present insights into those questions based on a study conducted by the Social Entrepreneurship Center of the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Senior Researcher Peter Vandor will present their findings around different models for scaling as well as the specific challenges social enterprises face. Then we will look into a concrete example for scaling internationally: Social Impact Award. Social Impact Award (SIA) is Europe’s largest community of early-stage social innovators under 30.
