This workshop is all about getting your impact community engaged in political work to promote better framework conditions for social entrepreneurship in your country.
Social entrepreneurs provide immense societal benefits and no one is better equipped to authentically tell that story than the practitioners themselves. For last year’s German national election, the Social Entrepreneurship Network Germany (SEND) sought to harness the power of its community by building a bottom-up approach to political work. From creating a shared roadmap towards the election, drafting policy papers, organising political chats and empowering members to actively converse with government officials, together we got our demands into a new government coalition agreement.
In this workshop, we want to talk about the benefits and challenges to our community-based approach to political work and explore takeaways for your national context and Euclid’s lobbying efforts on the European level.
Toby joined the team in March 2021 and works on a mixture of policy and European projects. Based in Brussels, Toby meets frequently with peer networks and institutional stakeholders to champion the voice of social enterprise and social entrepreneurs in the heart of Europe. Toby currently works on the European Social Enterprise Monitor which is a large scale quantitative research project taking place across Europe in collaboration with national partners which aims to close the gap in data available on social enterprise. Toby joined the EN Team after completing a Schuman Traineeship with the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education where he contributed in particular to the Committee’s Reports on the European Education Area and Digital Education Action Plan. A Chemical Engineer with a Master's degree in Energy with distinction (Heriot-Watt University), Rosa is the CEO & Founder of Science for Change, a company that seeks to bring science closer to society with co-creation and dialogue with quadruple helix stakeholders at its core, and the creator of the citizen science app OdourCollect (Singular Project Prize #Prismas2021).
With more than 15 years of experience in odours and citizen science, Rosa coordinates the European projects D-NOSES and NEWSERA, plus the Catalan cluster of the TRANSFORM project. She advises the "Science in Parliament" initiative, as well as the Mutual Learning Exercise on citizen science launched by the EC with 11 Member States on 2022. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA).
